Matters of Conscience Website – For members of The Mother Church
Matters of Conscience was filed in 2002 with a full awareness of the numerous calls for reform previously made by members of The Mother Church over a period of many years. As the work to realign Church activities with Manual By-Laws continues, members’ experiences are proving that holding fast, even in the face of difficult challenges, is spiritually strengthening. Individually and collectively we’re learning profound lessons in the ways and means of divine Principle, Love, and we’re growing in our understanding of the spiritual qualities needed to demonstrate a greater degree of Christly love within our Church family. Our healing prayers for our beloved Mother Church are well worth our full commitment. What better encouragement could we have than these words of our faithful and steadfast Leader, Mary Baker Eddy:
“Prayer, watching, and working, combined with self-immolation, are God's gracious means for accomplishing whatever has been successfully done for the Christianization and health of mankind.” (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy, p.1)
We expect a faithful following of this Christian guidance to lead to progress and corrective action. This page will post updated information or additional developments when they are significant enough to pass along.
Because many serious violations of Church By-Laws remain uncorrected and in order to further support healing and renewal in our beloved Church, Elaine Natale Davidson wrote a book entitled The Future of our Church and the Ministry of Reconciliation. This book encourages Christian Scientists to work together to rebuild the spiritual strength and unity of the Christian Science movement through “…being reconciled to God and His laws.” Published in 2013, it is available to any Christian Scientist and can be downloaded in PDF format from the website listed below, or a printed copy may be requested. Correspondence and requests can be made as follows:
Copies are available without charge, although contributions to “The Future of our Church, Inc.” are welcome.
